Free website programme · Leeds & Yorkshire
Apply for a free website.
We only offer a free website to a few small businesses, to help them expand their online presence and to help us build a stronger portfolio. Applying does not guarantee a place, but we would love to hear from you.
Who it's for
The requirements
We only provide free websites for some small businesses, to help them expand and to help us gain a stronger portfolio. We can only take on a few at a time, and meeting every requirement does not guarantee a place. These are the things we look for.
- A small business or sole traderRoughly ten people or fewer: a sole trader, a micro business, or a small community group or charity.
- Based in the UKWe're in Leeds, so Yorkshire businesses are the easiest to work with, but we will look at applications from anywhere in the UK.
- Ready to grow your online presenceYou have no website yet, or yours is outdated or not pulling its weight, and you want to be easier to find on Google, social media and local listings.
- A real business, trading or about to launchWe want to build for a genuine business or group with something to show: services, products, a story, a cause.
- Happy to collaborateYou can send your logo, photos and a few words about what you do, and give us feedback along the way. Good websites are built together.
- OK with us showing the finished siteYou're happy for us to add it to our portfolio and share a short, honest testimonial once you love it.
Bonus points, not requirements: you plan to keep your online presence fresh (a Google Business Profile, regular social posts, collecting reviews), you serve a local community, and you have a story worth telling.

The deal
What you get, and what we ask
What you get

- Mobile responsive design
- A contact form so customers can reach you
- Basic SEO setup to help people find you
- SSL certificate
- 1 month of support and revisions
- Free hosting where it suits (for example GitHub Pages), so you only pay for your domain, around £10-15 a year
What we ask in return
- Your content: logo, photos and a few words about what you do
- Timely replies and honest feedback while we build
- Permission to feature the finished site in our portfolio
- A short, honest testimonial if you are happy with the result
- A small “Website by No-Tea Studio” credit in the footer

Free website FAQs
Is the website really free?
Yes, if your application is chosen. We only offer free websites to some small businesses, and there is no guarantee. For a successful application, our design and build time is free. The only cost you'd normally pay is your own domain name (around £10-15 a year), and we can often use free hosting such as GitHub Pages for simpler sites.
What's the catch?
No catch, but a fair swap. We offer free websites to help small businesses expand, and to help us build a stronger portfolio. We ask that you take part properly (send content, give feedback), let us feature the finished site in our portfolio, and share a short testimonial if you're happy with it. We build our reputation, you get a website.
Do you offer free websites in Leeds and Yorkshire?
Yes. We are based in Leeds and mainly work with small businesses and community groups in Leeds and across Yorkshire, though we also welcome applications from elsewhere in the UK. Places are limited and there is no guarantee.
How many free websites do you build?
We only take on a small number of free projects, so each one gets proper attention, and there is no guarantee of a place even if you meet every requirement. If we can't start yours straight away, we'll tell you honestly and may keep your application in mind for the next opening.
What if my application isn't chosen?
We reply to everyone. If it's not the right fit right now, we'll say why and, where it makes sense, point you to one of our paid packages, which start from just £50.
What does a free website include?
A Starter-style site: 3-5 pages, mobile responsive design, a contact form, basic SEO setup, an SSL certificate and one month of support and revisions.
Do I need to have my content ready?
Not perfectly. A logo (if you have one), a few photos and some notes about what you do is a great start. We'll help you shape the words and pages.
What about ongoing costs and changes later?
After the first month you can manage small updates yourself, ask us for ad-hoc work, or take our maintenance retainer from £50 a month. You can also upgrade to a bigger site later: see the Pricing page.
Can I apply if I need an online shop?
E-commerce is outside what we can offer for free, but tell us about it in your application and we'll point you to the right package.
Not sure it is for you?
Ask us. If the free programme is not the right fit, there is usually a package that is.
